If staying creative is one of your New Year’s resolutions, then you’re on the right track. January happens to be International Creativity Month, founded by Randall Munson who’s a motivational speaker seeking to use the beginning of the year as an impetus to unleash creativity that can lead to innovation.

In that spirit, we wanted to know so we asked the #BuyMeACoffee community on Twitter to see how they stay creative in the new year. We got a mix of broad and specific responses that are all actionable, personal and inspirational, all incredible ways of staying creative in the new year.

Here they are:

Having tools for constant inspiration

Having tools at our disposal and carving out time to let the mind wander and be inspired is a great way to stay creative, as shared by #BuyMeACoffee creators. Whether it’s music, literature, movies or ideas we’ve jotted down before, knowing when to use them to light a creative spark is helpful.

Taking care of our bodies (underrated, but very important)

While doing and creating can seem like it’s above everything, resting and doing nothing can actually aid us in our creative efforts. Taking care of our bodies and letting our minds rest is integral to the creative process.

Believing in yourself

At the end of the day, we have to be ourselves’ greatest fans. No amount of inspiration or motivation can help us if our doubts about our skills, talents and capacity overpower our willpower to create.

This month, we hope you find ways to stay creative and keep those practices going until the end of the year. We can’t wait to see your work 🤩
